DML Reserve Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir 2024
DML Reserve Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir 2024
We are thrilled to be releasing our second Reserve wine under the DML label. Our Reserve wines are made in exceptional vintages, where we believe certain vineyards or particular barrels deserve special recognition.
The 2024 DML Reserve was produced from the outstanding 2024 vintage, which has already been recognised as one of the truly great Pinot vintages of the last decade. The fruit was grown in a prized Mornington Peninsula vineyard, where we feel very fortunate to have access to a small parcel of fruit. After 16 months of barrel maturation, the three most outstanding barrels from this batch were selected, blended and bottled to produce our Reserve.
From a vineyard in Merricks that is leased. This is just the second D.M.L. Reserve. 100% destemmed into open top fermenters and matured in 30% new barriques. A bright ruby red. A complex and perfumed nose redolent of red cherry and raspberry together with a dash of spice and peony. Even better on the palate, which fans out beautifully in the mouth before finishing with tannins that are both superfine and well delineated. A class act that should age effortlessly over the next few years. 97 points Philip Rich, Wine Companion
After a whirlwind honeymoon traipsing through Europe and the wineries in nearby Florence, 4-time AFL premiership player Jordan Lewis had well and truly caught the wine bug. Upon his return to Australia, he went straight to the top and contacted revered winemaker Franco D’Anna (Hoddles Creek) in the hopes of sharing great wine. What eventuated was a friendship that forged a path to create some of the Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula’s great single-site pinot noirs. Together with Sam Middleton (Mount Mary), D.M.L was born. -HALLIDAY TEAM
